In short: for a Halloween party with one Quest headset, we’re packing two stations. Laser Thief for everyone 12 and up who wants to duck under neon lasers, and HAUNTED: Are You Alone? for adults only who want to get scared in their own room.

Why this parcel?

Halloween parties usually draw a mixed crowd: teens, adults, people who love horror, and people who avoid it. One single scary game rarely fits everyone. So we split things into two stations with clear rules: a mild, colorful one and a real horror station with an age limit.

Both games are single-player. That means the headset gets passed around and the crowd watches. If you have two headsets, you can run both stations at once; otherwise, one after the other.

Station 1: Laser Thief, the neon station

Laser Thief stretches lasers across your room. You duck, step over beams, and freeze when a security camera looks your way. According to the studio, the game is set in Neon City, a city made of light, and the little robot BLIP cracks a joke every time you slip up. The look of glowing lasers in a darkened room pairs surprisingly well with Halloween decor. Everything else is on the Laser Thief store page.

For the party we recommend Bomb Run: according to the studio, the mode runs 120 seconds against a ticking bomb, and every hit costs you five seconds. Each guest plays one round, and the best loot score wins a chocolate pumpkin. For newcomers, set the difficulty to Casual so every heist comes with three shields.

Honest note: on Oct 10, 2026, the store page listed PEGI 12 with a “Horror” descriptor. The game itself is light in tone, but guests under 12 shouldn’t play at this station.

Best for: Mixed groups 12 and up who want to move around and laugh without getting spooked.

Skip if: The party room is too crowded. Laser Thief is room-scale, and the store recommends at least 3 × 3 meters of free space.

Station 2: HAUNTED: Are You Alone?, the adults-only station

HAUNTED is a mixed-reality horror game that turns your own room into the setting. A witch who has lived in this house for a hundred years has found you, and a little girl on an old rotary phone guides you through the night. According to the studio, the story runs about 25 to 35 minutes, plus three endless arcade modes: Grave Rush, Arm Cutter, and Skull Hunt. More on the HAUNTED store page.

For a party, the arcade modes work better than the story, since the rounds are shorter and each player can chase their own high score. Anyone playing the story should experience it alone and undisturbed. We’re deliberately not spoiling any secrets or twists here.

Important: on Oct 10, 2026, the store page listed PEGI 18 with an “Extreme Violence” descriptor. The game shows a content warning at launch and, according to the studio, isn’t suitable for children, pregnant people, or people with epilepsy, heart conditions, or anxiety disorders. There are loud noises, flashing lights, and heavy jump scares. For streamers, the studio says there’s a “Hide my room” option that swaps your real room for a virtual padded cell.

Best for: Adult horror fans looking for a real scare in their own home.

Skip if: Kids or teens are in the room, or a guest is sensitive to loud scares and flashing lights. Then this station stays closed.

The run of show that works for us

  1. Before the party: Install both games, scan the room with Space Setup, charge the batteries.
  2. From arrival: Station 1 runs for everyone 12 and up. Painter’s tape on the floor marks the play area.
  3. Later in the evening: Once the younger guests have left, Station 2 opens for adults who really want it.
  4. In between: A headset break after every third round, plus water and fresh air.

Safety notes

  • Space: Clear the area for both games. With HAUNTED, according to the studio, you’ll be turning, ducking, crawling, and swinging.
  • Decor: Candles, pumpkins, and fake cobwebs belong outside the play area. Anyone in the headset can see them in passthrough, but not always in time.
  • Onlookers: Stay behind a line and don’t touch the player, not even as a joke. In a horror game, a real hand on the shoulder can end badly.
  • No seated mode: Both games are played standing and moving.

Price and platform note

On Oct 10, 2026, Laser Thief cost £7.99 in the UK Meta Horizon Store and HAUNTED: Are You Alone? cost £3.99. On that day, both store pages listed Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S, with no internet connection required. Check prices and age ratings on the current store pages before the party.
