The short version: if you work from home and have a Quest, a quick laser heist can shake up your lunch break. With this plan you’re done in 15 minutes, cleanup included.

Why it made the parcel

Plenty of games are built for long evenings. Laser Thief also works in small bites, because every heist stands on its own: start pad, lasers, loot, back again. Then there’s Bomb Run mode, which the studio says lasts exactly 120 seconds. That’s a fixed unit of time, and it slots neatly into a plan.

One honest word: we’re not promising any fitness effects. Laser Thief is a game about ducking, rising, and standing still. It feels like movement, but how much it does for you physically is entirely up to you. What counts for us here is mainly getting your head away from the screen.

What you need

  • A Meta Quest, charged. The store page listed Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S on Oct 10, 2026.
  • Laser Thief, installed and set up once.
  • A clear area. The store recommends at least 3 × 3 meters. According to the studio, the levels adapt to smaller and more awkward rooms, and without a room scan there’s a Quick Play area from 2.25 meters per side.
  • Good lighting, if you play with hand tracking.

The 15-minute plan

Minutes 0 to 2: pick a room and clear it. Laser Thief opens the room selection every time you start. If you’ve already scanned your home office, select it. Push the office chair out of the way and move coffee cups out of reach. If you don’t want to scan a room, use the Quick Play area.

Minutes 2 to 4: warm up. After hours at a desk, shoulders and back are stiff. A few slow squats, shoulder rolls, and side stretches help before you duck under lasers. The studio explicitly recommends short sessions and a warm-up.

Minutes 4 to 7: one Bomb Run. Choose Bomb Run in the game modes. You have 120 seconds on a ticking bomb’s clock. Every piece of loot delivered counts, then a new vault room appears. Every laser hit or camera alarm costs five seconds. This is the most intense part of the break and at the same time the shortest. The game saves your best loot count, so you can compete against yourself every lunch break.

Minutes 7 to 12: two story levels. After that, things get calmer. Play the next two levels in the story. According to the studio there are 120 story levels across five worlds, and you unlock them in order. If you get hit, you go back to the start pad and try again; there’s no final game over in the story. If you’re stuck on a level, the game offers to skip it after five failed attempts. On a lunch break, that’s a real help.

Minutes 12 to 15: cooldown. Headset off, window open, a glass of water. Give your eyes a moment to readjust to the room without passthrough. Then back to the desk.

Small settings that help

  • Difficulty: On Casual, the studio says you get three shields per heist and keep your loot when you’re hit. That saves time on a short break.
  • Laser speed: With EASY, hunter lasers move more slowly and blink cycles calm down.
  • BLIP: The robot gives tips at the start pad. If you want to move through quickly, you can turn him off during heists.

Best for: People working from home with a free room and the wish to spend lunch break actively instead of on their phone.

Skip if: You work in an open-plan office or only have a corner free. Laser Thief is a room-scale game with no seated mode, and with colleagues nearby, ducking under lasers is not a good idea.

Note from the desk

Set an alarm for 15 minutes. Bomb Run has a habit of demanding “just one more try.”

Price and platform note

Laser Thief cost £7.99 in the UK Meta Horizon Store on Oct 10, 2026. According to the store page, at that time the game required no internet connection, contained no in-app ads, and had the comfort rating “Comfortable for some.” Check the current store page before buying.
