The short version: If you work on job sites or in landscaping alongside Spanish-speaking coworkers, you don’t need hotel vocabulary — you need tools, materials, and clear instructions. With a custom pack, you can build exactly that vocabulary during a coffee break.
Why this pack got bundled for construction
On plenty of US job sites, work happens in two languages. Foremen, site managers, and tradespeople who know a few dozen targeted Spanish words communicate faster and show respect for their crew. A general language course, though, doesn’t get to words like formwork, slope, or mulch layer until very late — or never.
LingFit has a feature we find especially handy for this: custom packs. You name a topic, the AI suggests a word list, you review and edit it, and that turns into a full chapter with the same exercise formats, audio, and images as the main course.
Step by step: your job-site pack
Step 1: Pick your language direction. Make sure you’re learning English → Spanish. Custom packs always belong to the language you’re currently studying.
Step 2: Keep the topic narrow. “Construction” is too broad. Three separate packs work better, for example: - “Tools and materials on the job site” - “Job-site safety: protective gear, hazards, breaks” - “Work instructions: measure, cut, carry, clean up, schedule”
For landscaping, a custom pack like “Gardening and landscaping: plants, soil, irrigation, machines” fits well.
Step 3: Choose the “Specialist Words” word type. That’s the right level for technical vocabulary. If you’re brand new to Spanish, you can start with “Basic Words” and build a second pack with Specialist Words later.
Step 4: Review and edit the list. This is the most important step. Before the chapter is created, LingFit shows you the suggested words. Cross out anything that doesn’t come up on your site, and add what’s missing. Feel free to ask a Spanish-speaking coworker which words people actually use on your site; regional expressions vary depending on the country of origin.
Step 5: Let the chapter build. The pack costs one credit. If creation fails, you automatically get the credit back. The finished chapter lives in the “Yours” tab, with an emoji and a name you can change.
Step 6: Practice with focus. Three exercise formats are especially useful for job-site vocabulary: the picture-to-word quiz for tools, listening to individual words (because instructions often get shouted over noise), and the speaking exercise, where the app uses speech recognition to check whether you pronounce the word clearly enough to be understood.
The word-list route
Some companies already have a bilingual list of terms, say on a handout in the site trailer. You can photograph it: LingFit reads up to 20 words from printed text and builds a chapter from them. That’s often the fastest route, because the list then matches your operation exactly.
Words you collect on the go also end up in the pack: if a coworker uses a word you don’t know, enter it by hand under “Saved Words” (up to six translations per word are possible). Once you have 20 together, they become your next chapter.
An honest note on safety
A vocabulary app doesn’t replace a safety briefing, training, or an interpreter. When it comes to hazards, accidents, or legally required instruction, that information belongs in the official briefing in a language everyone can safely understand. Your pack helps with everyday back-and-forth, not with liability questions.
How it fits into the workday
A pack this size can be practiced in small bites: one lesson during the breakfast break, one after quitting time. Course chapters can be downloaded, and saved words live on your device and work without a connection, which can help on job sites on the outskirts of town. It’s also worth running the regular course from A1 to B2 in parallel, so that individual technical words eventually turn into full sentences.
Best for: Foremen, site managers, tradespeople, and landscapers who work with Spanish-speaking crews and want to build a fitting technical vocabulary fast.
Skip if: You need certified industry-language training or materials for safety briefings; courses with a teacher and professional translations are the right path for that.
Price and platform
LingFit is available for iPhone, iPad, and Android, and the annual subscription starts with a 7-day trial. Every new account gets one free credit for the first pack. As of Oct 10, 2026 in the US App Store: Premium is $12.99 per month or $44.99 per year; twelve pack credits cost $9.99, and purchased credits don’t expire. Details at lingfit.app.
Note from the desk: Three small packs beat one big one. Tools, safety, instructions — in that order.
