Single parcel: MindIsland, the meditation app that asks about your day first
Our main verdict on MindIsland: meditation from a single sentence, a daily meditation, 3/5/10 minutes, and offline cache. Who the subscription is worth it for.

One-line verdict: MindIsland is the right app for people whose stress has a concrete name. If you’re after a huge free library to browse instead, you’re better off elsewhere.
Most meditation apps work like a video rental store: you scroll through shelves of ready-made recordings and hope one of them fits your day. MindIsland flips that around. The app first asks what’s going on, then builds a guided meditation for exactly that. We took a look at what’s inside this parcel and who it’s worth it for.
Why it made the parcel
The reason is one single, well-executed idea: you type a sentence like “Big presentation tomorrow, my thoughts won’t settle” into the input field, and according to the maker, MindIsland generates a new spoken meditation about exactly that situation in seconds. Besides typing, the field also offers a microphone icon for voice input.
Add to that three things busy people appreciate:
- Three fixed lengths: 3, 5, or 10 minutes. No choosing between 47 variations.
- A fresh daily meditation: If you don’t want to type anything in the morning, you’ll find a newly generated session every day.
- Any posture: According to the maker, the guidance is designed for a chair, the floor (cross-legged), lying down, and even standing, say on a crowded train.
What the app feels like day to day
A session always follows the same arc. It starts with a calm breath: inhale for four seconds, a short pause, exhale for six. Then the voice picks up your topic, works through it gently, and reframes the trigger in a kinder light. Only at the end does it turn to relaxation, breath, and silence. This “problem first, calm second” principle is the real difference from a general recording that just opens with “Get comfortable.”
Before you start, you choose the length, a voice, and optionally a background sound. The voices are AI voices; the official screenshots show, for example, “Luna – Female.” According to the maker, the optional music gets quieter whenever someone is speaking, so it doesn’t drown out the text.
After a session you can rate it or mark it as a favorite. A history shows all your meditations so far, plus stats like total sessions, daily streak, and total time.
What else is in the box
- Library: Ready-made meditations in eight hand-picked categories, including Breathe, Sleep, Focus, Anxiety Relief, and Gratitude. Good for days when no words come to mind.
- Articles: Short pieces on mindfulness, posture, and philosophy, “from stoic wisdom to modern psychology,” with a daily quote and reading progress synced across devices.
- Offline cache: The last ten meditations are stored on your device. Handy on a plane or in a dead zone.
- Privacy tools: According to the website, you can export all your data or delete your account at any time; the maker calls the app GDPR-compliant.
What’s not in it
An honest parcel also comes with a list of missing pieces. MindIsland has no sleep stories, no sleep tracking, and no Apple Watch integration, even if “Sleep” is in the store name (though there is a Sleep category in the library). We didn’t find a trial period in the store listings. As far as we know, the meditations are in English; the website comes in eight languages, but that says nothing about the language of the sessions.
The framing matters too: the store listing describes MindIsland as an app for relaxation and personal reflection, explicitly not a medical device, and not for therapy, diagnosis, or treatment. If you’re dealing with ongoing anxiety or sleep problems, talk to a doctor.
How MindIsland stacks up against the competition
Headspace and Calm lean on big pre-produced libraries and courses; Calm is also known for sleep stories and music. Insight Timer offers a huge free collection from human teachers. These are all good apps. MindIsland plays a different role: less choice, but a session that speaks to your specific occasion. If you like browsing, go with one of the big libraries. If you know at eight in the morning that the tough conversation is at ten, MindIsland is the right fit.
Best for: People with a concrete occasion, like a presentation, an argument, a decision, or spiraling thoughts, who want a fitting session in three to ten minutes, including on the go and standing up.
Skip if: You want a big free library, sleep stories, or meditations in German, or you already get along fine with a simple breathing timer.
Price and platform
As of Oct 10, 2026: MindIsland is available for iPhone and iPad (iOS 15 and up) as well as Android. The download is free, and there’s a free meditation to start. After that you need MindIsland Premium; in the US App Store, Premium Monthly costs $12.99 (in Germany, €14.99). There are also packages with meditation credits for especially packed months. The app is rated 13+ in the App Store. All the details are at mindisland.app.
